ITS A GIRL!!!

9.7 pounds, 21" in length
14" head and chest
I started having some strange cramping around 6-7ish PM on October 6th. Didn't think anything of it then around 9pm I was getting more cramping and contractions, but very inconsistent. They were pretty easy ones so I was in denial the whole time that *this was it*.
I went and got a shower cause my back was really bothering me. I didn't have any during that time but they hit again once I was out. They were coming no more than 10 mins apart, then down to 5, then to 8. Very confusing!
About 10pm they jumped right down to 3-4 mins and started getting very intense. About 11pm we called the midwife so she could start heading over.
She got here about 12:30am. She was running a little late cause she hit a deer! she and the deer was ok, THANKFULLY!
By the time she got here they were down to 1-2 mins, then every few contractions they would space out to about 5mins apart. She checked me and I was 4cm easily stretched to 5
She suggested we bind my stomach cause the baby was still fairly high up. So we did that. Very painful! but it works.
Time was a blur from there on out. I started walking around my house and up and down stairs which brought on super intense contractions and I would squat during them too.
I want to say it was 2:45ish AM when she checked me again and I was 6cm. Time to set up the pool. Well we didn't take in to account that this pool was quite a bit larger than my previous ones so we quickly ran out of hot water. I managed to labor for about 1/2 hour longer before I NEEDED in that pool. There was barely enough water in there for me, but there was pots of water boiling on the stove as well as large bowls in the microwave so it quickly filled up.
I think I had 2 contractions in the pool when my water broke and the baby dropped very quickly. I had about 2-3 more before my body started pushing and it was pushing hard. Next thing I know the baby is crowning and I had barely done any work. It was so intense that I could barely breath so I would bare down cause that baby needed out NOW.
I got the head out and the shoulders were tight. My midwife was trying to help them out and I just kept pushing and finally got past them and up she floated to the top of the water. I immediately put the baby in my arms and lifted the baby out to see if it was a boy or girl.
I had to do a double take cause I couldn't believe it was a GIRL. I had a gut feeling it was a girl, but with the timing I thought it had to be a boy.
Recovery is going very well. minimal after pains, my body is just a bit achy.
She is doing fantastic. Not nursing much right now cause she is so sleepy, but im sure she will make up for it in the next day or so.
